Hi,
If you had to pick a favorite shape, what would it be? I’d be hard pressed to pick a favorite, but I do enjoy a good hexagon, especially when it’s used in a quilt-type way. I realize that any shape that is repeated over and over could crate the same quilty look, but there’s something about the hexagon that feels homey and more quilt-like to me.
Here are two examples of the happy hexagon appearing in all it’s quilt-like goodness.
Appropriately named, the Be Happy Hexagon card by Teri Anderson from the February 2014 issue is exactly that look I’m talking about. She die-cut a circle containing hexagons and then mixed and matched the papers she filled the design with, which created a quilt pattern look.
The Little Bee Box by Erin Lincoln from the February 2014 issue uses papers that look like quilt fabrics. And those bees! They are nestled in the honeycomb created by the hexagon design.
Are you totally hooked on hexagons? Well I’ve got great news then! The February 2014 issue has 10 more projects using hexagons to inspire you. And if you want to try your hand at using hexagons in your designs, join the challenge on the Moxie Fab World blog – Happy for Hexagons. You have until March 7 to add your creation to the mix so grab your supplies and start creating.
Have fun exploring the happy world of hexagons!
